The Mugimaki Flycatchers

Ficedula mugimaki
The male mugimaki flycatcher is distinctly more ostentatious than the female, which don a more subdued coat.  The pair shown here were taken at separate times.  The male was shot earlier in the trip.  It was much later that I came upon the female, and I put them together in this composite.

It is often difficult to tell apart the female birds of many species since they look so much alike.  We often tell the bird by the male.
